Col. Morgan wrote this to his wife on August 13, 1862 at Camp Crystal Hill:

"You will have exagerated statements of executions for desertions. 4 men were shot at Camp Rust, two from my Reg - and one the day before yesterday. 5 men were shot here. 4 deserters caught by Parsons with arms in their hands in the enemys camp, a spy and one who had been the guide of the enemy through the state, had stolen over 100 negroes and also had arms in his hands - this is all, most of those who deserted have voluntarily returned and I think the disease cured."

I still can't find anything about Camp Nelson.
