Re: Dick Urbaniak-Color bearer at Murfreesboro

I just couldn't let it go, and with the luck of having the hand written casualty reports of Murfreesboro, was able to sort it out. Sometimes you just need a little luck. So glad Cotter made the report and list of casualties. So I have the chain of flag bearers down pretty well....Setzer (KIA Richmond Ky), Carlisle and Edwards casualties at Murfreesboro. Probably took a couple months to get new flag but by March 1863 Wilbern Ramsey had the colors till killed at Atlanta on July 28,64. When that happened Jame A. High picked them up and carried them through Franklin, till he was wounded and captured in front of Nashville Dec 15, 64. Unknown who carried them the rest of the war unless more info turns up. I think it's pretty important to document these guys...as you said, being color bearer was a dangerous post and reserved for the bravest of soldiers by appointment of the commander.
