Hindman's activity in April 1861

the following is a quote from an article on the Encylopedia of Arkansas.

In April 1861, Bocage received a telegram from Colonel Thomas C. Hindman ordering him to capture the boat Silver Wave, loaded with arms and supplies on its way to Fort Smith (Sebastian County) via the Arkansas River. Bocage successfully took the boat.

The source seems to be, Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Central Arkansas. Chicago: Goodspeed Publishing Co., 1891.

I am doubtful about Hindman's involvement in this episode. Given the emninty that existed between Rector and Hindman, and the fact that this is before the second Secession convention, while Rector was still very much in charge.

Anyone an expert on what Hindman was doing in April 1861?
