shots across the bow of the Steamer Sky Lark

Does anyone have a reference for the story related below?

"At the outbreak of the Civil War, Pine Bluff had two companies of militia. Captain Charies Carlton and L. Donaldson formed the first company, the Jefferson Guards. In early 1861, Captain Joseph W. Bocage organized the Southern Guards. These two companies had some claim in possibly having fired the first shot of the Civil War. In eariy April 1861, the militia companies under Bocage’s command fired musket shots across the bow of the Steamer Sky Lark. This action forced the captain to land at Pine Bluff, where all the supplies for the United States forces were removed and later sent to Little Rock. Whether or not this occurred before Fort Sumter (Charleston Harbor, S.C.) has not been determined."
