Company of Black troops

This comes from The Log Cabin Democrat paper Conway, Arkansas. It was a special centennial issue (1873-1973). Is there any truth to the following: "A company of Negro troops was raised in this county. *(Not sure but I think they mean Conway County as Faulkner County was not established until after the war. it was formed in 1873 out of parts of Conway and Pulaski County)* Company C of the 22nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment, all Negroes, saw action in North Arkansas and in Oklahoma as a part of the Trans-Mississippi Department of the Confederate Army.
