His unit was listed as infantry commanded by Gunter and his commander was Pettus.

Seems like a slam dunk, except there is no record of him in the 34th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, or the 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles.

He is not the J.R. Crump who was in the 13th Arkansas Infantry---that was a Desha Co., man.

Jacob Robert Crump is a nomad: 1850 Lafayette Co., 1860 Pike Co., 1870 Yell Co., 1912 and 1918 in Montgomery Co.

Anybody have a roster of Gunter's Cavalry Battalion perhaps?
