His obituary appears to have been written by a comrade from the John B. Gordon Camp, No. 1456, United Confederate Veterans, of Seattle, Wash., from information provided by a Mrs. H. 0. Calohan, Seattle, Wash. And this in turn most likely from information left them over the years by Jasper.

There is the possibility that the records of his UCV camp may have found the archives of the two local Sons of Confederate Camps. The two nearest are based in Everett and Tacoma and may hold the true identity of his unit affiliation.
