The marked Starr carbine in the Ark National Guard Museum may have came from the McCrary Collection of Lonoke at one time he had four 1st ARK marked carbines and had no idea what they were. I believe he sold them in the late 1970's. I bought mine in Gettysburg from a dealer in 1976, he and his collector buddies told me not to pay any attention to the 1st Ark markings, that the markings were wrong, the 1st Ark Cavalry "CS" never carried Starr carbines. I smiled as I bought the carbine, knowing they had the wrong Army in mind, it was US not CS. Tells you how little collectors knew of Arkansas troops back in 1976, they probably had never heard of a US cavalry unit from Arkansas.
