Re: Skirmish at Jacksonp;ort, Ark circa May 4, 62

On the evening of 1 May, 1862, Lt. Col. [William F.] Wood leading the First Indiana Cavalry, "took possession of Jacksonport, Arkansas," and early on 2 May, six miles below the town, Wood's men skirmished with Captain Richard Hooker's guerilla company. Privates James Turner and Josiah Wickham were wounded, Wickham dying of his wounds on 16 May.
