MAJ. FRANCIS NUISEMENT de VAUGINE

I am looking for information on one of our original French pioneers and settlers. FRANCIS VAUGINE. No he didn't live to the civil war, but several of his children and grand children did. He is buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Pine Bluff. According to Find a Grave, his grave is marked as a Revolutionary War Soldier and a War of 1812 Soldier.

The Revolutionary war service was actually in the "Regiment of Louisiana" a Spanish unit that participated in the campaign on the lower Mississippi.

I am unsure about the War of 1812 Service.

He is listed in an 1806 document in the Missouri Territorial papers as the Major of the Militia of the District of Arkansas.

John S. Roane married in to the this family.
