The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Samuel Walker Nobles

First, I have to say how excited I am to find a message board dedicated to Arkansas in the War Between the States. Second, thank you all for your contributions! I welcome any direction in obtaining information or documents about my ancestor through historical societies, museums, online resources, or private collections.

I am looking for information about Private Samuel Walker Nobles (I am a lineal descendant). Let me tell you what I do know so far:

Enlisted at DeWitt, Arkansas on June 16th, 1862, by J. B. Thelford for a period of 3 years.
Mustered in at Camp Texas, Arkansas, on July 16th, 1862.
Assigned to Company I, Morgan's Battalion (reorganized as the 26th Arkansas Infantry Regiment on July 23rd, 1862).
Granted sick furlough on August 31, 1862, for a period of 7 days.
Fought at the Battle of Prairie Grove on December 7th, 1862, under McRae's Brigade in Shoup's Division.
Discharged at Camp Anderson, Arkansas, on May 19th, 1863, on account of a disability.
Furnished with a disability pay account.

I would be interested to know what other battles he fought in, his conduct in the field, what injuries he sustained, or any pictures or letters with mention of his name. I know there is in existence either an original, or a copy, of the family bible which contains ancestral information beginning with Samuel.

Lastly, I am looking for a source that contains the order of battle for the 26th Arkansas Infantry, from its formation in 1862 to it's surrender and disbandment in Marshall, Texas, in May, 1865. I would love to be able to view first-hand accounts or documents relating to the Battle of Prairie Grove, as I believe this is where Samuel was injured.

Thanks so much for taking the time! Hope to hear from some of ya'll :D
