The commission was recorded in the Arkansas Military Department Records, List of Commissioned Officers in State Militia 1827–1862, Microfilm Roll 00000038-8, Most researchers miss this because the Microfilm which is available at the Arkansas History Commission is mislabled. The box identifies it as Spanish American War records. I am traveling this week, so I can't give you the exact page number.
