3rd Arkansas Infantry, State Troops

Since there are very few records of the 3rd Arkansas (Gratiot's) Infantry Regiment, State Troops, this discharge paper contains some information that I haven't found elsewhere:

Camp Stephins(sic) July 27, 1861

This goes to certify that Irvin H. Blackard. A private. was enlisted by me on

the 29th day of May 1861 in my company of the Johnson County Rifle Company H,

3rd Regiment of Infantry Arkansas Volunteers.

That he served as a private in my company from 29th of May 1861 to 28th day of

July 1861.

The said Blackard was born in the state of North Carolina 29 years of age. six

feet high. dark complection (sic), dark hair and blue eyes. and is husky.

Discharged by reason of a Certificate of the Regimental Sergeon(sic) of a

disability.

I further certify that the sum of $21.26 is due him on account of his per month

pay, for 1 mo. and 28 days. 21.26 The further sum for clothing allowance of

$5.41 and a bounty for 1 mo. and 28 days. C 33 year of 5.32. total of $31.99.
