Unfortunately this is a much belated reply to Tom's post of 7/11/2007 regarding clothing issues to the 34th Arkansas infantry Regt. in November and December 1862. In his post he stated that "less than half of the men were issued government clothes". I'm afraid this is incorrect as he failed to include 'suits of clothes', clearly shown on the requisition forms. These 'suits' comprising jackets and pants added considerably to the issue. In total 36 suits were issued to Company F as well as 2 Jackets and 14 coats. All the other companies received similar issues, which meant that every soldier in the regiment received clothing and not half as stated by Tom.
