Re: Sons of Kirkbride Potts -- Another Mystery
In Response To: Sons of Kirkbride Potts ()

OK, so Thomas Potts is in the 1st Cavalry Battalion. However, his only service record in that regiment, from early 1863, has him absent in Arkansas. A Thomas Potts later shows up in both Gordon’s and Harrell’s Cavalry Battalions, both of which saw action in Price’s Missouri Raid. An affidavit filed after Kirkbride Potts's death in 1879 says that Thomas Potts, his son, died in 1863 "Killed in the Missouri Raid" (which, of course, was actually 1864).

SO, my question is: Is there any record of Thomas Potts dying during Price's Raid? The service records on the Harrell and Gordon guy(s) provide no clues.

The Joshua Potts in my original query, by the way, is William J(oshua) Potts, who died at Corinth based on 1850 and 1860 census data.

As always, thanks for any assistance!
