Looking for information pertaning to his dearh and internment. Last unit i have is he served with Ransom"s Sharpshooters.
Pvt. John Wycliffe Shoptaw was b. 1830 in Bullet Co. KY. The family moved to Pope Co. Arkansas.

He entered the War with 1st Arkansas Calvary CSA, 15 Jan. 1862. He was wounded, transferred to Columbus, Mississippi and died 15 Oct. 1863.

No record of burial can be found. Many of the CSA soldiers were buried in the Friendship Cemetery. I have written the Cemetery and they were unable to find any record of him.
