Also many of the "extra" (over strength) men of those Dawson's 19th Arkansas Companies were transferred to Portlock's 24th Arkansas Infantry, when the regiments were reorganized to have only 75 officers and men per company according to Hindman's Telegraphs.

Many of those 19th/24th Arkansas men "disappeared" in the "Black hole" that was the sickness of Camp White Sulphur Springs before formal musterings took place.
