The "Lafeyette Guards" commanded by Captain Sam H. Dill was organized on June 3, 1861 in the 40th Regiment, Arkansas State Militia, Lafayette County. This Volunteer Militia Company entered Confederate Service as Company F, 6th Arkansas Infantry Regiment.
