From "Serving With Honor: The diary of Captain Ethan Allen Pinnell of the Eighth Missouri Infantry (Confederate)" edited by Michael E. Banasik, Page 92:

July 31, 1863
Marched six miles and camped on the Camden road, four miles from the city...

August 1, 1863
In Camp - Our camp has been christened Camp Price. It is a lovely spot, in a level, shady creek bottom, with an abundance of excellent water. It is the site of Gen'l (James F.) Fagan's last winter camp, and was by him called "Camp Texas."

From "The Campaigns of Walker's Texas Division" by Joseph P. Blessington, 16th Texas Infantry:

Sept.22 (1862): Early this morning we passed through the town of Benton and continued our march until we arrived in sight of the spires of Little Rock, about four miles distant. All of a sudden the regiment made a flank movement from the road into the woods on the right of the road. After marching
through the woods for about a mile, we arrived at an old camp-ground, known by the name of
Camp Texas.

Present day Rte. 5 also known as Stagecoach Road and Military Road was the road that the 16th would have followed into Little Rock. Where it approaches U.A.L.R. it becomes Roosevelt Road. Just past the campus Mabelvale Pike crosses Roosevelt and this is where Blessington made the flank movement to the right which took them to Fourche Creek about a mile distant. This coupled with the fact that War for Southern Independence artifacts have been found where the old Worth James Airport was located and other research have lead me to believe that this is where Camp Texas was located.

That said, there may have been other camps that were named "Camp Texas" by the soldiers that occupied them. I know of three "Camp Bragg"s here in Arkansas. Also we know from the Hindman papers that he established a camp on the river about two miles from town in July of 1862 but that was for all his artillery reguardless of which state the batteries came from.
