The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Warren, Arkansas

There was a major enlistment of Arkansas Union troops on 2 Sep 1863 at Warren, Arkansas. The great majority of these men were mustered into service at Fort Smith in December. The overwhelming majority of the men were from Northwest, Arkansas.

So my question is.....Does it seem logical that these men, from the Northwest part of the state would enlist in Warren, Bradley County and then trek all the way to Fort Smith? Or is there another (as yet unknown to me) Warren, Arkansas in the Northwest in 1863?

I checked the 1895 Atlas and the one in Bradley County is the only one listed.
Help me you Arkansas geniuses.
