Mr. Allen -- I don't envy you the daunting task of African-American genealogical research, from the 1860s back to colonial times. I wish I could help, but all I can suggest is that you check the 1860 census slave schedules. Arkansas volunteer companies were organized and recruited on a county basis. You might start with the assumption that, since Co. G, 33rd Arkansas Regiment Infantry, was organized in Columbia County, the two slave cooks in that company (Albert and Lindsey) were also from that county. It's a long shot. If that doesn't pan out, then you might run the same search in Ouachita County (where they were enlisted). If that doesn't work, then I'm fresh out of ideas.
It is interesting that the slave cooks of the 33rd Arkansas were listed on the company muster rolls as having been regularly enlisted in the Confederate service. That is extremely unusual for an Arkansas regiment. Confederate companies routinely used the services of slaves, but you almost never see them enlisted, or even mentioned by name.
Anyway, my best wishes to you in your research. I regret that I could not be of more help.
