African-Americans in the 33rd Arkansas Infantry

Hello all,

I've been doing some research into lineage and discovered that my four-time paternal, Great-Great-Great Grandfather is a man by the name of Albert Allen, born in 1837 in Alabama. At some point he ended up in Arkansas where he remained until his death. I also discovered he was in the Civil War, on the side of the Confederacy. All official/familial information after that is limited.

I've come across this page (http://www.couchgenweb.com/civilwar/33rdcog.html) and discovered a slave on the muster roll of the 33rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment of a Negro Slave Cook by the name of Albert. I believe this is my Great x3 Grandfather. Looking up the researchers on the page I discovered that Jeri Fultz and Edward Gerdes have since passed away. Bryan Howerton seems to be active on this site, which is how I discovered it. Without being able to find direct communication methods with Mr. Howerton I'm hoping he sees this and can potentially help me with further research about my ancestor. Anyone else with any information will gladly be received.
