Thomas D. Bowen, Company A, 2nd Mounted Rifles
Enlisted 1 Oct 1861 at Camp Holloway (on the Little Blue River in Jackson Co., Missouri)
210 miles from home. His horse was valued at $160. His age was listed as 30.
He deserted at DeVall's Bluff 18 Apr 1862.

He managed to get himself and wife Nancy E. (Kendrick) Bowen enumerated on the 1850 Censes of both Johnson and Pope Counties.

He was born in Illinois. By 1860, he was in Franklin County with two sons. 9 year-old Zachariah F. and 1 year old Scott W. Bowen.

I'm afraid the trail goes cold for me there.
