One point that I overlooked is that Samuel Martin POW Death record at Camp Douglas shows that he enlisted in Company "D" of Crawford's Battalion of Arkansas Infantry. HOWEVER, there is no existing enrollment records for such a company. Records only presently exist for Company "A" and "B". We have long suspected that there were other companies attached to Crawford's Battalion but we can not as yet identify and verify their existance.

Lawrence Martin may have enlisted with his son in Company "D", and not been present at the Battle of Arkansas Post where his enlistment records most likely were lost or destroyed.
