I guess no one picked up on the statement that the company he organized was during the day of "Reconstruction". and his patroling was to control the "Carpetbaggers". This tends to tell me that since southern whites who served in the Confederate Army were not allowed to voted during Reconstruction, and that Carpet baggers were general person taking advantage of the Reconstruction Governments oppertunities, it would seem that the organizations activities may have been in the form of "Regulators". Those person who operated outside of official Government regulations?
