Re: Thrall's Arkansas Battery for Danny Odom

The obit identifies the Battery that Barlow was assigned to as the 2nd Arkansas Battery, but then goes on to describe the battery's service under General Forrest and later at Mobile, and Barlow's surrender and parole at Meridian Mississippi. The 2nd Arkansas Light Artillery, aka Roberts Battery, aka Wiggins Battery, served under Forrest briefly in 1862, but spent most of the war under General Wheeler's Cavalry Corps and ultimately surrendered in North Carolina.

The 3rd Arkansas Light Artillery, aka the Jackson Light Artillery, aka Thrall’s Battery, did spend significant time serving under Forrest, served in the siege of Mobile and some members were surrendered at Meridian.

According to his CSR on Fold3, Barlow was a Seargent in Wiggins Battery (2nd), and later a 1Lt of Thrall's Battery (3rd). His parole certificate shows him as 1LT of Thrall's Battery.

I don't see a record of his promotion to Captain during the war?
