The troops commanded by Solon Borland on the "Fort Smith Expedition", April 20-30, 1861, consisted of four Little Rock companies:

Pulaski Artillery--Capt. William E. Woodruff, Jr.
Pulaski Lancers--Capt. Thomas J. Churchill.
Peyton Rifles--Capt. Daniel W. Ringo.
Rough and Ready Guards--Capt. George W. King.
