The Magruder guards were formed in Pulaski County. Capt Hoadley. They were with the 4th battalion inf co D. At Island 10 they were detatched to be a heavy artility unit. After Island 10 they became company H of the 1st TN heavy artillery regiment. Hoadley was promoted to Major and was killed on June 8, 1863.
