In Response To: J.H. Porterfield ()

Hello Bob;

I am operating off of my memory here but in my examination of Hindman's Copybook of telegraphs to John S Roane about the time of St. Charles (June 17th 1862) there was an exchange of communication from Hindmans asking Roane where was Porterfield? Hindman was trying to organize a responce to St Charles. In looking through the Hindman Telegraphs on the internet I do not find these telegraphs. But I do not see many of the telegraphs to Pine Bluff at all. I do not know why this is.

I am given to the impression that Captain Porterfield was relieved of his command shortly after this. It was this company (K) that shortly there after had a large number of deserters leave and go back to Pine Bluff from Little Rock.
