To tell you the truth, I am unsure. If I could figure out that,
I would be on top of it. The one I was searching for was the one
who became later the sheriff, then the county judge and finally
the postman.
If the man had left any descendants or if I was much of a researcher
and could figure out where his relatives went, that once were there in
DeValls Bluff, I might could nail it down.
I believe I actually did teach a descendant of the family that the first wife
came from. The first Sarah who was his wife, had been born in
Illinois, her dad had come down to Arkansas post area in the 1850's,
and was then in DeValls Bluff, where the daughter Sarah met and
married Joel M. McClintock. I did contact some of that family and they
told me they did not know anything which is typical when it comes to family
history. Only I would go off on a wild goose chase.
To be honest, I did not know a thing about the one that was with the
Mississippi group. I think I, or someone, needs to read the census and
find out WHERE the sheriff McClintock SAID he was born.
I do however know that I am correct from the time he took command
of the USCT. He lived to be 95, and his widow did sell property in 1946,
not sure how much, but it was the last sighting of anything that
said, McClintock on it.
All of the men would have had the same ancestor origins in Scotland.
But honestly the guy from Mississippi may have been a better fit.
