But I’m skeptical of the “Other Information.” First, because I have some confidence in the dates I gave, and second because the Mississippi Confederate Grave Registry appears to have been misread. In the online transcription that I found, there is indeed a John W. Hooper, but not with the dates and burial place shown by Historical Data Systems, Inc. That information belongs instead to a J. J. Hooper. John W. Hooper is shown as a private in the 30th Alabama. I will however keep Mississippi in mind in future searching.
