I do not have much on CS pole tips - finials. US flags used the eagle for theirs mostly and such little as remains of CS flags they used spears in the early stages of the war. The later war eras did not seem to use finials at all and this may have to do with the brass for them going into making cannons and percussion caps for muskets.
