I know that there are bound to be some African-Americans who left their masters during the Civil War to fight. However, I have no idea where I might begin to research this information. If any of you know of any African-American from Drew County, AR, who left to fight for the Union or possibly as servants of masters from Drew County, I would be interested in learning this information. If anyone has an idea of where else I might go to discover this, I would be very appreciative.
