A court-martial in the 2nd Ark. Cav.

Charges and specifications preferred against Wm. H. Giddings, private in Company A, 2nd Regiment of Arkansas Cavalry.

Charge—Conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline.

Specification—That said W. H. Giddings did, on or about the 30th of July 1862, steel a golden locket from a deguerrean room in the town of Holly Springs, the property of a lady residing in said town.

We the undersigned members of a Regimental Court Martial assembled at the camp of the 2d Regiment of Arkansas Cavalry, C.S.A., near Holly Springs, Mississippi, on the 3d day of August 1862, for the purpose of trying Private Wm. H. Giddings, of Co. A, 2d Regiment of Arkansas Cavalry, under certain charges preferred against him, do find him guilty, according to his plea filed herein, and do sentence him as follows, to wit: That said private Wm. H. Giddings have thirty-nine stripes upon his bare back, well laid on; that his head be shaved, and he be drummed out of the service. All in presence of the Regt and at such time and place as may be designated by the commanding officer.
