The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Question: Bryan Howerton

The 8th Arkansas Infantry was a consolidation of its original ten companies, plus ten companies
from the 7th and 9th Arkansas Battalions. I got that from you, or something you had posted.
QUESTION: WAS it upwards of "2,000 men" or upwards of a "1000 men"? I do have the
list of the 78 men who were there to surrender at the end.
Understand please I do not actually understand how many would have been in a grouping.
So glad your health has improved and are once again appearing on this board.
Do you know if anyone has ever finished a book on the 8th Arkansas, CSA?
There were two in the works with each having a different focus, but to my knowledge, neither
has been completed.
Thanks a million, Linda
