I agree with what you are saying about Crawford's men. I know that some of the Missouri regiments in Marmaduke's Brigade had enough and went back to Missouri. Not many but certainly a few, in the case of units from North of the Arkansas it would appear that several units just seemed to simply cease to exist. I am sure there are exceptions, yet what I am trying to get clear in my mind is how many just went away. I can agree with no arguments that the CSR's for Arkansas from the of 63 onwards is quite unreliable, but after close examination of the various units, a very time consuming method for sure, we still have a huge number of men who seem to have said, "I've had enough, am going home."
