It took putting much of my book into source notes, but I was able to change and upgrade Wikipedia's ratings of the claims of the 1950s veterans to Civil War service. See their "The Last Surviving Confederates." William Loudermilk has gone up from "no evidence" to "probable." The 1848 supposed birthdate has gone to 1847 on four pieces of evidence. That means his story of enlisting aged sixteen and serving in the 1864 campaign has more veracity. To get him verified I need more evidence than what is currently accessible. Garry Victor Hill
