I am attempting to find this telegram. If it is in the Alexander papers, I have missed it. I am attempting to determine what Cpt Brown is being referred to? Is thie CPT Louis Brown of Brown's Arkansas Battery or CPT S. W. Brown mentioned below?

I Leave of absence is hereby granted Capt James W. Scaife of [Albert W.] Johnson's Reg't for ten (10) days commencing from the 5th of August.

II Capt S. [Sterling] B. Hendricks is authorized to hire or impress Eight (8) negroes for service in the Quarter Master's Department

III S.W. brown is hereby appointed Captain of Artillery in the P.A.C.S. to take rank from the 25th day of June 1862.

IV Private Gordon of Capt Clays Co, [Archibald J.] McNeill's Regiment is hereby detailed on special service in the Company of Sappers and Miners commanded by Capt Clarkson, and will at once report to Capt Clarkson at the arsenal for duty. Private Gordon will bring with him his arms and accoutrements complete and will be furnished with a complete descriptive roll by his Captain, approved by the Colonel and Brigade Commander.

V Beeves for the C.S. Army, east of the Miss-River will be allowed to move without hindrance as far as Monroe, La, Pine Bluff [Arkansas] and Monticello Arks. Agents in charge of herds will stop at or near those points and ascertain the practicability of crossing the river, and upon making such attempt will be afforded assistance by commanders of troops - Reasonable requisitions made by Commanders of troops in this District, for beeves from such herds, will be filled.

VI John Barnett is hereby appointed 1st Lieutenant of Artillery in the P.A.C.S. and will report to Capt S.W. brown for duty.

VII Capt John D. Adams Act'g C.Q.M. will furnish J.W. McCown Jr. Stock Agent, the 106 sum of ($2000) Two thousand Dollars. - upon his making the proper requisition for the same, to be used in defraying the expenses of herding and moving Government cattle for the army East of Mississippi River.

VIII Brig Gen John S. Roane is assigned to the command of the troops, at Camp White Sulphur [Springs, Arkansas], and will establish his Head Quarters there.

IX The following arrangement of the troops at Camp White Sulphur is announced: -

XI Capt B.H. Wheat, Capt Ralston, Capt W.N. Portis, Capt James Young, Capt Davis, (of Jefferson) Capt J.M. O'neill and Capt Capers are hereby directed to move immediately with their companies, to Arkansas Post and are placed under the orders of Brig Genl [John S.] Roane.

XII Brig-Gen Roane will establish a cavalry camp of instruction at or near, Arkansas Post and will immediately organize into a battalion the several companies named in the proceeding paragraph. This battalion will consist of five (5) companies, each composed of seventy six (76) well mounted and effective men, exclusive of Commissioned officers. - Men badly mounted, or, not effective for other cause, will be dismounted and put in infantry companies of Brig Genl. Roanes command.

XIII Major F. [Francis] M. Chrisman is assigned to the command of the battalion to be organized under paragraph twelve (12) of this order. - He will recommend through Brig Genl Roane fit persons for Ass't Quarter Master, and Asst Commissary, of Subsistence; will apply for a Surgeon, and Asst Surgeon and will assign to duty as adjutant one of the Lieutenants of the battalion.

XIV The regulations adopted by Special Orders No 52, for the government of Camp Crystal Hill [Arkansas] are hereby adopted for the government of ""Camp White Sulphur"" [Springs, Arkansas] except wherein they may be locally inapplicable.

XV The resignation of Asst Surgeon Lafayette Yates, P.A.C.S. is accepted and the officer honorably discharged from the service.

XVI Capt Parker of Ordnance Department, at Forth Smith [Fort Smith Arkansas] will report at once to Brig Genl [John S.] Roane, at Pine Bluff [Arkansas] for duty.

XVII E.P. Pryor of Lamar Artillery, is hereby detailed on Special duty in the Quarter Masters Department and will report at once to Capt J.D. Adams, Act'g Chief Quarter Master, for duty

XVIII John McKinney, of Woodruff's Artillery is hereby detailed on special duty in the Quarter Master Department and will report once to Capt J.D. Adams Act'g Chief Quarter Master, for duty.

XIX S.D. Nichols, Co ""C"" [Nicholas H.] Darnells Regiment, is hereby detailed on special service in the Commissary Department and will at once report to Maj J. [John] C. Palmer, Chief Commissary, for duty.

XX Brig Gen A [Albert] Rust is assigned to the command of the troops at Camp Crystal Hill [Arkansas], and will establish his Head Quarters there.
