The description of Camp Hope/Camp Nelson being "two miles east of the village of Austin" is a mistake either on purpose or by error by the soldier, who wrote the description of the camp. Everyone used this description of where Camp Nelson was, going back to the late 1960's. It had everyone looking in the wrong area. I found Camp Hope/Camp Nelson (they are one and the same location) in the spring of 1982. I will have a Camp Nelson display setup at Camp Nelson Confederate Cemetery, Saturday, October 12, from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
