Re: Battles: 14th Regiment Co A - 8th Co G

Danny Odom helped me work out the History of McCarver's 14th and that is now on Wikipedia. The regiment was split almost as soon as it was formed. Hardee took the 4 best armed companies, A, B, E, and H of the 14th, split them from the unit when he moved to Kentucky and designated them as the 9th Arkansas Infantry Battalion and they particpated in the battle of Shiloh under that designation.

After Shloh, the 9th Arkansas Infantry Battalion, including the origional company A, 14th Arkansas, was consolidated with the 8th Arkansas. The former Companies A and H of the 14, became company G of the *th Arkansas Infantry Regiment when it was reorganized.

The remainder of the orgional 14th was enventually consolidate with parts of the 17th and became the 21st Arkansas Infantry Regiment.

I would review the following articles.
