Pea Ridge tree cutting

When I was at Pea Ridge last Friday I noticed they were logging a large number of Eastern Red Cedar trees from the northwestern part of the battlfield. It was quite an operation, they had a log skidder and other large logging equiptment. They had a huge wood chipper working, it had about a ten foot tall pile of chips on the ground when I was there. Does anyone know if this is part of a plan to make the battlefield look as it did in 1862. I know red cedar trees can take over and crowd out other hardwood trees, so this could be just a thinning operation. A lot was going on at Pea Ridge last week, Indians and loggers and I saw it all.
