The 3rd Arkansas Field Battery (1860–1865) was a Confederate Army artillery battery from Pulaski County, Arkansas, during the American Civil War.

............

Joseph Black, Private, Capt. Marshall's Company, Light Artillery, enlisted February 14, 1862 at Little Rock by Capt. Woodruff for one year, present at the February 28, 1863 muster, recorded on the October 4, 1863 Company Return as overstayed sick leave and had not reported for sixty days and has been dropped from the rolls, no further records

Note: There are no surviving subsequent muster rolls for this Company. Hence, we are not aware if he later rejoined his unit or served, nor his disposition.
