Jonas Dudley Smith, surgeon

I am trying to locat info onthis man from Phillips Co, Ark. He was an examining surgeon for CS forces and the only known info I can find is where he contracted an eye ailment while working inthe Ark Div hospital in Georgia in 1864. I have found a J D Smith that was an aid to Gen Churchill, his age was 28 which is too young. There is also a J Dickinson Smith listed as surgeon but he is from Ga and served in ANV. WIthin J Dickinson Smith's records are those of a J D Smith and on one it says name could not be confirmed as J Dickinson. THis J D Smith was assigned as asst surgeon to a Tn regiment in 1861. This is a possibility since Phillips Co men under Cleburne and Hindman wound up very early over in TN. But I can find nothing that confirms this. THought I might post it here in case someone had records that might. He is my wife's GGG grandfather. he died in 1869 in Woodruff Co Arkansas. His wife and children then moved to Springfield, AR in Conway Co. My wife is a direct descendant of Ambrose Powell, the grandfather of Ambrose Powell Hill. Appreciate anything that is floating around out there that I can't seem to wrap my hands around.
