Hospital, died of gunshot wound left side, July 24,

Capt. Austin's Co., 6th Regiment Arkansas Volunteers, called into the service of the State of Arkansas for 1 year, and of the Confederate States from July 26, 1861, for the balance of the term, 10 months and 5 days, unless sooner discharged.

The Sixth Arkansas infantry regiment was organized
at Little Rock in June, 1861, Company G, Magnolia county, Capt. J. W. Austin. After the reorganization the regiment was marched to Pocahontas. Measles broke out in camp, of which a great many died. In September, 186r, the regiment was transferred to Confederate service in the brigade commanded
by Brig. -Gen. William J. Hardee.
