The idea that the second battery was named for Trigg but not commanded by him, or atleast not commanded by him in November 1864 might be supported by Bruce Allardice's statement below that Trigg actually died in 1863. I have not found a record of Trigg's death yet. Maybe Bruce had a record of that it.

John T. Trigg was born in MO about 1828 (age 30 in 1860), the son of General Stephen Trigg USA and Frances Thruston Rector. He was a Pulaski Co. Attorney, State Rep., and Land Office attorney. Governor Henry M. Rector was his half-brother. John T. probably died in 1863.
