For those interested; Both Col Solon and Pvt George Borland will receive a Southern Cross of Honor from the Gen T J Churchill chapter, Daughter's of the Confederacy on 150th anniversary of George's demise, 24 June at Mount Holly cemetery, Little Rock.

George had served with the volunteers (NOT MILITIA) that seized Ft Smith April 1861, under W E WOODRUFF,jr, who was under his father, Solon BORLAND acting as Aide-de-Camp for governor Henry M RECTOR, prior to start of Civil war, then in Texas under Gen Albert PIKE.
