1. I know that William was born in TN between 1825-1828 (I've seen 1825, 1826 and 1828).
2. I know that he married a woman named Elizabeth.
3. I know that there is a marriage record for William Davis and Elizabeth Bennett from McMinn County, TN for Sept. 4, 1845 (although Ancestry.com says it's Meigs County...they're wrong...if you look at the record, the first few on the page are Meigs and the last two are McMinn).
4. I know that a William Davis from Arkansas served in the 4th Arkansas Cavalry (U.S.) during the Civil War. He enlisted in 1864 and was 36 years old at the time of his enlistment. He was born in McMinn County, TN.
5. I found a pension index file from 1890 (Fold 3.com) for the William Davis who served in the 4th Arkansas Cavalry during the Civil War. That index file also says that he served in the Mexican War (1846-1848).
6. I looked up Mexican War records on Fold3.com and see that the William Davis who served from TN was 19 or 20 years old when he enlisted in 1847.
I wonder if these items pinpoint my 2nd Great Grandfather as the man who served in the 4th Arkansas Cavalry? I tried to find the actual pension records but could not. I would appreciate any help in either confirming or discounting the William Davis - 4th Arkansas Cavalry connection.
