Here are the original companies and captains --

Co. A—Capt. Robert B. Lambert (Phillips County)
Co. B—Capt. John C. Johnson (St. Francis County)
Co. C—Capt. Benjamin Harris (Poinsett County)
Co. D—Capt. Andrew Balfour (Lawrence County)
Co. E—Capt. Hiram F. Tennison (Craighead County)
Co. F—Capt. Thomas Wilds (Greene County)
Co. G—Capt. Hogan W. Murphy (St. Francis County)
Co. H—Capt. Braxton C. Crump (Crittenden County)
Co. I—Capt. James M. Pollard (Craighead County)
Co. K—Capt. George B. Hunt (St. Louis, Missouri)

Most of the companies were redesignated when the regiment was reorganized for the war in May 1862. The original Company F was disbanded. A new Company E (Desha County) was assigned. The early history of the 13th Arkansas is pretty obscure due to the loss of the regiment's books and papers during the engagement at Belmont, Missouri, on November 7, 1861. It's taken me a lot of years, looking through some pretty obscure sources, to come up with much.
