William H. Stanley, age 18, Private, Captain Smith's Company, Dixie Grays, 6th Regiment,* enlisted July 26, 1861 at Pocahontas by Col. Hindman for a period of 10 months 5 days, missing since the Battle of Shiloh April 7, 1862 as last recorded on June 30, 1862, no further records

Note: Company muster rolls exist through August 31, 1864, he is not recorded on any, leaving one to believe he never returned to the regiment

* This company subsequently became Company E, 6th Regiment Arkansas Infantry

Captain Samuel G. Smith's Co., 6th Regiment Arkansas Infantry, called into service of the State of Arkansas for 1 year from June 1, 1861, and of the Confederate States from July 26, 1861, for the balance of the term, 10 months and 5 days, unless soon discharged.
