You are correct the guns were at Fort McCulloch. My first comments was that I believed that they were at Fort Washita but I was depending on my poor memory at that time, that is one of the reasons I posted the excerpt from the O.R.s when I finally found them again.

As to the detail that was sent to retrieve the guns that information comes from the muster roll entries of several men on detached service of the 24th Arkansas Infantry being organized at that time at White Sulphur Springs and from where (The 24th Arkansas Inf.) Hart got most of his men by transfers for the Battery.

There is a vage reference I believe in the Hindman Copybook of Telegraphs about this detail being sent to Fort McCulloch. However it is difficult to determine if in fact this detail is what is being referenced to, or if it was the crossing of 25 pieces of Artillery about the 20th of July, '62 with Gen. Samuel Curtis made reference to in one of his reports, or even the crossing of the Mississippi River of Parson Missouri Infantry Brigade with a supply train of 100 wagons for Little Rock on July 31st, '62.

In any case (I am spectulating here) I believe that the supplies recieved of the artillery and wagon train in late July '62 is what gave Hindman and Holmes the necessay Haress and Limbers to retrieve those Parrot Guns from Fort McCulloch.
